New Year, New You: New Year's Resolution For a Healthy Smile

Hey, it's almost the New Year and, of course, the time for New Year's resolutions.

Every year, many people make New Year's resolutions, expecting to have a positive change. Each year's recurring resolutions include an active approach to health and fitness, improved finances, or learning new things. The common resolutions may also include saving some extra bucks or losing some extra weight. Why don't we try something new this time? This new year, make a resolution to adapt yourself to a healthy smile.

Here are some resolutions you can take this year to take care of your dental health:

Getting a Brand New Brush

Replace your toothbrush or buy a new brush head in case you are using an electric brush. It is recommended to replace it once every three months. Don't wait till its bristles start to get frayed.

Regular Flossing

We are all familiar with the 'brush twice a day' rule. However, what about flossing? Make sure that you floss once a day as a part of your daily dental care routine. You can make use of floss pics or strings, water or air flossers, whichever you are comfortable with.

Quit Smoking

Smoking can lead to teeth discoloration, cavities, gum diseases, and diseases in the throat, or even in the worst-case scenario, oral cancer. Also, this habit can impact your overall health too. Alcohol consumption is another habit that should be avoided this new year.

Adopting a Healthy Diet Plan

Start incorporating fruits, vegetables, nuts, and similar healthy foods in your diet. The high amount of antioxidants and nutrients found in these food items will help you in fighting bacteria and inflammation in your teeth and gums. Plus, drink plenty of water, at least eight glasses per day. This will help you with bad breath too.

Regular Dental Checkups

Make a resolution that you will visit your nearest dentist at least once in six months. This way, you can help prevent serious dental health problems in the future, which can cost you a lot of money and discomfort. So, monitor your oral health and get adopted to a dental health regimen as per your dentist's recommendation.
